Find all information relevant to COVID 19/Coronavirus on this page. Please scroll through as it answers most of the public' questions at this unprecedented and challenging time.
Above you will see emails received from the Animal & Plant Health Agency (a department of DEFRA).
The law requires anyone who transports animals to have the relevant transporters licence if they are transporting for over 65km (40 miles) as part of an economic reason. This includes fuel costs and if the person transporting has any business interest, such as breeders.
You will see that APHA/DEFRA state that breeders who transport is classed as an economic reason and that they require a licence to be able to transport any of their litter to new homes.
We advise that you ask the breeder to send you a copy of their transporters licence.
If the breeder does not have a transporters licence then unfortunately they are not allowed to transport their puppies/kittens.
If you are a breeder, please contact the Animal & Plant Health Agency on 0300 020 0301, select option 2 for the Animal & Plant Health Agency, listen for the options and select for welfare in transit and transporters licences.
Breeders can acquire a licence after applying to the APHA. We do not recommend any transport that is not licenced.
Type 1 licence
The vehicle hasn't been inspected or approved to transport animals. These licences can only transport animals for up to 8 hour and transport that involves ferries (RoRo vessels) isn't allowed.
Type 2 Licence
The vehicle has under gone an inspection and can be used for all journeys including journeys over 12 hours.
A vehicle body approval certificate will accompany the vehicle.
Not all approved vehicles can transport animals on ferries (RoRo vessels). Please ensure there is a 'Yes' answer next to RoRo vessel securing points. If there is a no then insurances for your pet will not be valid due to the vehicle not allowed to transport animals when ferries are involved. Your pet could also be seized by authorities at either side.
Always ensure that you have viewed a copy of the Authorised Animal Transporters Licence as well as insurances. If the transport involves a ferry or outside of the UK such as Europe or Southern Ireland, we recommend that you also ask to view the vehicle approval certificate.
PLEASE BE KIND TO OUR STAFF
We ask you to show patience to our staff and remain polite. Staff are doing all they can to assist you despite facing higher demand and pressures.

We will not tolerate anyone attempting to bully, intimidate or be rude to our staff, especially at this difficult time throughout our country.
Please show our staff the respect that they deserve and please remember that our staff are dedicating themselves to assisting the public and maintaining high standards when transporting pets, whilst also ensuring risks to staff and the public, due to COVID 19, are minimised as much as possible.

All of us here at NFP Pet Transport thank you for your understanding, patience and kind words during this unprecedented and challenging time for all of us. We hope that you all keep safe and that you are not affected by COVID 19, and we wish a speedy recovery to anyone who has symptoms.
We are still offering transport within the UK and some of Europe by road only but safety measures have been put into place. These measures include the following:-
Due to all advice received and all information collated we have now implemented the following measures. These measures are to minimise the risks of cross contamination of Coronavirus, as we all want it to reduce and stop and for our great country to have normality.
Thankfully none of our handlers have fallen to symptoms of Coronavirus/COVID 19 and we all want it to stay this way. We ask you to please help our handlers stay well and be able to continue helping you all due to the following:-
When our handler arrives to you, we ask that you give them time and don't rush out to them. It also gives you extra time to prepare. Our handlers will need to do the following steps for every collection and delivery.
Before leaving delivery points our handlers will spend time disinfecting and cleaning the kennel area of the vehicle using Parvo Virucide. This is to allow time for the product to be in situ which makes it more effective.
Our handlers also have paperwork to complete for every transport known as a 'Transport Certificate'.
Please provide us with as much information as you can about your pet so that we can work with you to find a suitable collection/delivery safe place.
Our staff can collect essentials for you such as food and prescriptions, and deliver to your collection/delivery address. We can also do this for any vulnerable neighbours you have. We are not charging for the collection and delivery of these provisions.
By using our company you are reducing the amount of people who are leaving homes as not only can we transport your pet but we can visit a shop for both your collection and delivery addresses for essential supplies.
We ask you to understand that our office team and handlers are working longer hours in order to assist customers. Please be prepared for our handlers to arrive as this then allows them some time during customers to be able to rest.
We will continue to gain advice and information from Government agencies and act accordingly. We thank you for your understanding, patience and cooperation during this extremely challenging and unprecedented time within our great country.
Due to the update from APHA/DEFRA that we have received, at this present time our handlers are only allowed to accept the following items:
These items must be placed in an unsealed envolope
Unfortunately, due to information received from authorities, our handlers can't accept any other property due to the risk of cross contamination of COVID 19.
We thank you for your cooperation and understanding during this unprecedented and challenging time.
Although we are still operating and providing transport, we, like many companies, are operating on limited staff yet experiencing a high demand for our services. Phonelines will only be open during office hours which are Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm except bank holidays when they are closed.
Due to the above, our phone lines are only open to take messages. A member of the relevant team will then contact you via email.
We ask you to contact us via email.
f you require a quote we ask you to please complete our quote request form which is available at the top of this page.
Can we please ask everyone to be patient with our staff and understanding during this unprecedented and challenging time and staff are working as hard as possible and working longer hours in order to assist everyone. We have a limited staff due to COVID 19.
We thank you for your understanding.

Like many other businesses at this difficult time, we are operating on limited staff. Please only contact us by email and our quote request form at this time.
We ask you to please be patient, our staff are working as quickly as they can during this difficult time within our country. Responses may be delayed and we have to prioritise welfare cases and emergency vet trips.
We have measures in place due to COVID 19 and thank you for your understanding, patience and cooperation during this unprecedented time within our country. The measures that we have put into place can be found below.
If you woud like a quote, please complete our Quote Request form, which can be done using your phone, tablet or computer. https://form.jotform.com/nfppet/quote-request
We ask you to complete as fully as possible with as much information as possible as this is how we can provide you with a quote that is most suited to you and your pet. Pets that have only had 1st vaccination will not be able to travel in a vehicle with other pets and will need a dedicated journey.
Once we receive your request a member of the team will contact you.
If we can't assist you at present due to the restrictions our country currently faces, we will assist you as soon as we possibly can.
PETS THAT AREN'T VACCINATED
Pets that have not completed a full course of vaccinations will not be allowed to leave the vehicle once placed inside our specially fitted vehicle. They will also require a dedicated journey and will not be allowed to share a transport with any other pets from other households, this is to protect the pet from any possible exposure to disease.
Pets that are not fully vaccinated, or cats, will be encouraged, as usual, to toilet using a puppy pad or litter tray within the vehicle. Our vehicles all carry plenty of water and cleaning products.
Our great country is in crisis.

Price for pet Transport
Due to the crisis within the UK and the world at this time, we have discounted all transport while the crisis is ongoing.
You will only pay 38p per mile instead of our usual 45p per mile.
Quotes are based on a round trip from our base, to your collection point, onto your delivery point/s and back to our base.
We want to be fair to every customer so the above applies to everyone.
If you are a home with multiple pets that need transport we recommend that you request a quote instead of advising each of your customers to contact us. This allows us to give you the best possible price.
Our company is one of the safest to use at this time.
This is based on guidance and advice received from CFSG, an organisation made up of vets, Defra, APHA, welfare charities and more.
Vehicles are disinfected after every pet using parvo virucide and every pet receives fresh vet bedding.
Handlers are wearing gloves and masks and collection from/delivering to crates and remaining 3 metres away from homes. Collections and deliveries are to crates that you place outside the property.
To request a quote simply visit any page on this website. On every page there is a box that you can click to get a quote. You can do this using your phone, tablet or computer.
